Delete your account

Last updated August 4, 2026

In the app

Open ThoughtFree and go to Settings, then Account, then Delete account. You will be asked to type the word delete to confirm. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.

If you cannot sign in

Email support@wholenessmedia.com from the address on the account. We will confirm it is yours and delete it for you within 30 days, usually much sooner.

What is deleted

Everything tied to your account, permanently:

  • Thoughts, comments, tags, categories and tracker lists
  • Diary entries, including sleep, nutrition, movement and finance records
  • Voice recordings and images, removed from storage
  • Research reports, weekly insights and automations
  • Settings, preferences and notification registrations
  • Search embeddings generated from your content
  • API keys you created for the Claude connector

Connected services

If you connected Google Calendar, Notion or Todoist, we revoke ThoughtFree's access as part of deleting your account, and we delete the calendar events ThoughtFree created for you. Anything you exported to Notion or Todoist yourself stays there, because it is yours and lives in your account with them.

What may linger briefly

Encrypted database backups roll off on their own schedule, within 30 days. Email we have already sent, such as a book delivered to your Kindle, has left our systems and cannot be recalled. Service providers who processed your content, for example speech to text or the AI models behind research, keep it only under their own retention terms.

Your copy of the data

Export first if you want to keep anything. Settings, then Export, writes a file of your thoughts as JSON, Markdown, OPML or ENEX. Once the account is deleted there is nothing left to export.

Other devices

A device that was signed in keeps its local copy until it next tries to reach the account, then signs itself out. To clear it straight away, open Settings and choose Clear app data, or uninstall the app.
