ThoughtFree supports multiple export formats so your data is never locked in.

Full-fidelity export with all metadata:

  • Thought content, categories, tags
  • Created/updated timestamps
  • Attachments (as references)
  • Comments and sub-thoughts

Best for: backups and importing into other tools.

Spreadsheet-compatible format:

  • One row per thought
  • Columns: content, category, tags, created date, etc.

Best for: data analysis in Excel or Google Sheets.

Export your thoughts as an e-book:

  • Formatted with proper typography
  • Organized by category or date
  • AI-generated cover image (optional)
  • Readable in any e-reader app

Best for: reviewing thoughts offline or creating a personal journal book.

Send your thoughts directly to your Kindle device:

  1. Go to Settings and enter your Kindle email address
  2. Select thoughts to export
  3. Choose “Send to Kindle”
  4. The EPUB is emailed directly to your device

Each tracker list can be exported independently as CSV. This is useful for sharing specific lists (like a birthday calendar) with others.

Open any thought → tap the menu → “Export” → choose format.

  1. Go to Settings > Export & Import
  2. Choose export scope (all thoughts, filtered, or archive)
  3. Select format
  4. Download

The Archive view has its own export options — export everything or just the current filtered view.
