Push Notifications

ThoughtFree can send push notifications to keep you engaged with your thoughts and habits. All notifications fire at your local time based on your browser’s timezone.

A daily nudge to fill in your diary entry. You can set the exact time this fires — for example, 9 PM every evening.

Get alerted when your diary streak is about to break. Helps you maintain consistency without having to remember to check.

Fires when an automation pipeline finishes processing your thoughts. Useful if you’ve set up daily or weekly automations and want to know when results are ready.

A Sunday evening recap of your week — thoughts captured, categories used, and highlights.

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications
  2. Toggle Enable push notifications
  3. Your browser will ask for notification permission — click Allow
  4. Toggle on the notification types you want
  5. For Diary Reminder, set your preferred time using the time picker

Push notifications work per-device. If you’ve enabled notifications on one device, you’ll see a banner on other devices offering to subscribe them too. Each device can be subscribed or unsubscribed independently.

Use the Send test notification button in settings to verify everything is working. If you don’t receive it, check that your browser hasn’t blocked notifications for the site.

  • Notifications blocked: Check your browser settings. On mobile, also check your OS notification settings for the browser app.
  • Not receiving notifications: Make sure the browser tab isn’t in a suspended state. On mobile, ensure the app isn’t being killed by battery optimization.
