Inbox & Today
ThoughtFree organizes your thoughts into two main views, each designed for a different mode of thinking.
The Inbox is your default view — it’s where you land when you open the app. Every thought you capture appears here.
Filtering
Section titled “Filtering”Use the filter bar at the top to narrow down your thoughts:
- Categories — Show only Ideas, Tasks, Notes, etc.
- Tags — Filter by any tag you’ve assigned
- Time — Quick filters for today, this week, this month
- Search — Full-text search across all your thoughts
Starring
Section titled “Starring”Star important thoughts to pin them to the top of your inbox. Starred thoughts appear in a dedicated section above your regular thoughts.
Bulk Operations
Section titled “Bulk Operations”Select multiple thoughts to perform bulk actions:
- Categorize — Assign a category to all selected thoughts
- Archive — Move selected thoughts to the archive
- Delete — Remove selected thoughts (with undo)
The Today view is for task-focused work. It shows thoughts organized by time:
Sections
Section titled “Sections”| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Overdue | Tasks past their due date (highlighted in red) |
| Due Today | Tasks due today |
| Upcoming | Future tasks grouped by date |
Progress Bar
Section titled “Progress Bar”A progress bar at the top shows your completion rate for the day. As you check off tasks, the bar fills up.
Quick Complete
Section titled “Quick Complete”Tap the checkbox on any task to complete it. Completed tasks automatically disappear after a brief delay (with an undo toast).
Calendar Integration
Section titled “Calendar Integration”You can connect external calendars to see your events alongside your ThoughtFree tasks. Go to Settings > Calendar Feeds to add calendar subscriptions.
Switching Between Views
Section titled “Switching Between Views”- Inbox is always at
/— the root of the app - Today is at
/today - Use the bottom navigation bar (mobile) or sidebar (desktop) to switch
Both views share the same capture FAB, so you can add thoughts from either view. The key difference is that capturing from Today automatically sets today as the due date.
